Polar Wave Snow Tubing in Batavia, NY
Mar 11th, 2010My family and I recently spent part of the day at Polar Wave in Batavia, NY. Polar Wave is a Snowtubing park. The park with a downhill ride that runs on specially designed snow tubes. The tubing hill has groomed in "chutes" that resemble various sizes of snow-built waves and includes runs for both adults and children. They have five runs and two tube tows.
Let’s face it, the only bad part about sledding and snow tubing is the walk up the hill. Well I loved Polar Wave because I didn’t have to walk up a hill! They hooked the handle of our tube to a rope while we sat back and relaxed in our tubes! Now that is my idea of a winter sport!
The day we went was very busy and I thought the lines would take forever. But I was surprised how quickly the workers move the tubers up the hill. Each hill has its own employee to supervise your “take off”. If you like excitement you can even ask them to spin you! If you go with a group you can hook all your tubes together and do down! Little kids can share a tube with their parents if they are a little nervous.
They have a little indoor facility where you can warm up and order something to eat. Hotdogs, pizza, french fries and most importantly hot chocolate!
The season is winding down but the good news is Polar Wave makes their own snow so on a mild, sunny winter day head out and enjoy some fun!
